Shattered door reported; surveillance shows suspect entering and exiting business.

Updated 8:49 a.m. April 23 with information about another burglary in La Verne on Wednesday.

Police are investigating a burglary at French Press Espresso Bar in La Verne early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded at about 12:47 a.m. to a report of a burglary in progress at the business, located at 3836 Emerald Ave., according to an email from La Verne Police Lt. Steve Figueroa.

When officers arrived, they found a shattered glass door. Surveillance video showed a single individual entering and exiting the business before police arrived.

The only loss reported so far is the damaged glass door. Investigators are actively pursuing leads to identify the suspect.

The cafe was busier than usual this morning, barista Kendal Chang said. Some people learned about the break-in from a video posted to the French Espresso Bar's Instagram account. Others were surprised to see the boarded-up door.

"We really appreciate all the support from the community," Chang said.

A burglary was also reported at the Siamese Thai restaurant, 1544 Foothill Blvd. in La Verne, on Wednesday. According to the police log forwarded via email from La Verne Police Sgt. Devon Harden, the owner of the restaurant is still working to identify the losses.
