Bonita High School will begin the 2026-27 school year with two new assistant principals.

The Bonita Unified Board of Education approved the appointments of Lauren Choi and Kira Grund during its June 10 meeting. They join an administrative team that includes Principal Kenny Ritchie and Assistant Principal Joy Lindsay.

Choi brings nine years of school administration experience. She previously taught high school English, English language development and Advanced Placement Psychology. She earned master’s degrees from Biola University and Cal State Long Beach.

A San Dimas resident for 14 years, Choi has two daughters who have attended Bonita Unified schools. She said serving the district that helped her children grow academically, socially and emotionally is a privilege.

“I also love living in the same community that I work in so that I can have more time with my family and develop deep and long-lasting connections with the people I serve,” Choi said.

Choi said she is eager to get to know Bonita High School’s students, employees and families. She has already seen strong school spirit and support from families and the city of La Verne.

“Bonita High School is a gem of a school, and I am excited to be a part of such a vibrant and caring community,” Choi said.

Grund joins Bonita High School after 15 years with the Charter Oak Unified School District. She taught science and held several leadership positions, including science department chair, International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement coordinator, Western Association of Schools and Colleges coordinator and community schools attendance adviser.

Before becoming an educator, Grund worked as a certified athletic trainer at Bishop Amat High School, UC Irvine and Indiana State University.
