Plus highlights from the May 4 City Council Meeting Agenda.

Hello neighbors.
Today, I want to introduce you to two freelance journalists working with me to publish more stories for our community. Their energy and commitment to community news inspires me—and it’s exactly what LVDN needs right now.
Thank you for continuing to read and share La Verne Daily News!

Meet Arturo Gomez Molina
Arturo is a Los Angeles-born freelance reporter and photographer who enjoys running, hiking, watching baseball and hockey, and discovering the best local coffee spots.
He graduated from the University of La Verne in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in public affairs with an emphasis in communications (This is how we met.). His professional experience spans multiple industries across Southern California, including tourism, nonprofit work, and pediatric dentistry. He has spent most of his career in higher education communications and marketing.
Arturo is passionate about connecting with communities, whether or not he has a camera in hand, and learning people’s stories. He is driven by the love of storytelling, both in sharing his own perspective and in helping others feel seen and heard through theirs.
Meet Kaitlyn McMullin
Kaitlyn has been passionately writing and photographing from a young age.
When she started college, she joined journalism on a whim and quickly discovered a strong interest in the field, working her way into a copy editing role where she developed a foundation in accuracy, clarity, and AP Style.
Kaitlyn graduated with degrees in English, journalism and humanities, and went on to pursue freelance journalism. She writes about issues and stories that reflect the community, with experience covering a range of topics through writing and editing.
Her work centers on everyday life and the people and decisions that shape it. Kaitlyn aims to provide straightforward reporting that informs readers and reflects what is happening locally.
As a freelancer, she enjoys working with editors to develop stories that are relevant, timely and rooted in the community.
