Budget Vote Monday: What La Verne Residents Need to Know
Your guide to the decisions, developments and conversations shaping La Verne this week.

Hello neighbors!
You've probably heard of food deserts, but what about news deserts?
Over the last 25 years, California has lost a third of its newsrooms and 70% of its journalists. When we lose access to reliable local information and perspective, it becomes much harder to understand what's happening in our own communities, hold local leaders accountable, or participate in meaningful ways to the decisions that are shaping our lives.
My goal for La Verne Daily News is 1) to fill a void in local news coverage, and 2) help people understand what's happening in our own backyard in ways that feel relevant and trustworthy.
Thank you for supporting my work through donations and subscriptions.

Measure A Fails, Delaying Bonita Unified Facility Projects
Bonita Unified School District officials say the defeat of Measure A will likely delay major facility improvement projects across the district's 13 campuses.
Election results show voters in La Verne and San Dimas rejected the $256 million school facilities bond measure, which required 55% voter approval under California's Proposition 39 rules. Measure A received about 47% support, falling 7.69 percentage points short of passage. About 20,000 residents cast ballots.
