Invest in the Future—Help Us Launch a Paid Internship Program for Student Journalists

Hello Neighbors 👋

When kids say “6–7,” we’re thinking about $67,000—the amount we need to fund 10 paid student journalism internships here in La Verne.

If you don’t know what “6–7” means, find the nearest kid and ask them.

Your $67 donation will help us launch a paid student journalism program and expand our coverage!

As a former professor, I’ve seen too many student journalists—the next generation of local storytellers—cover important community issues without pay. That’s why we’re launching a paid internship program in spring 2026, and we’re doing it with a simple belief:

Student journalists deserve fair compensation for work that strengthens our community.

And that’s where your $67 makes a real impact. We only need 1,000 donors to reach our goal.

🚀 What your donation helps make possible:

• 10 paid student interns at $3,500 each (for 150 hours of real reporting)
• Professional mentorship, training, and tech tools so students can focus on telling meaningful local stories
• More and deeper reporting on small businesses, people, and places that make La Verne special

We’re committed to paying student journalists the same way we do any member of our news team.

🎯 Giving Tuesday Goal: $6,700 by Dec. 10

Your $6, $7 or $67 donation today will help us build a program that lifts student voices and strengthens our local news ecosystem.

Thank you for supporting community-powered news. Together, we can build a trustworthy, sustainable local news source La Verne can count on.

With gratitude,
