A New Way to Get Your School Bond Questions Answered
Ask the La Verne Daily Bond Bot—built from my Measure A coverage and get answers—with links to the full stories.
Measure A is a big decision for our community—and I know readers have a lot of questions. I've covered this bond measure since the district first signaled it was heading in this direction, and I've tried to answer the most common questions through my reporting.
The La Verne Daily Bond Bot is a chatbot that puts my reporting to work in a new way. Ask it anything about Measure A—what it costs, what it funds, how school bonds work, what protections voters have—and it will pull answers directly from my La Verne Daily News articles, with links back to the full stories.
I built the chatbot using Claude, Anthropic's AI, and trained it exclusively on my Measure A reporting. It doesn't draw from outside sources or search the web—only the information I've published on this topic. That's intentional. I wanted a tool grounded in local, verified journalism, not a general-purpose AI that might pull from anywhere. Since this is version 1.0, I expect to expand its functionality and the information it provides.
It's an experiment in making local journalism more useful. Give it a try, and if it can't answer your question, email me staci@lavernedaily.org—that's a signal I should be reporting on it.
