Beyond the Finish Line

Local cycling team builds confidence and character + Events in and around La Verne Oct. 1-8

Thank you to this week's newsletter sponsor!

Welcome, new readers, and hello neighbors!

This past week has reminded me how much connection matters—to our community and to the work I do with La Verne Daily News.

It’s happened in Instagram conversations, as followers shared questions about the Weymouth Water Treatment Plant battery fire. It’s happened at the special City Council meeting about that same incident and at last night’s La Verne Chamber of Commerce candidate event. Each conversation helps me better understand what’s on your minds and what you need from your local newsroom.

This morning, those connections came with coffee and pastries. I teamed up with Grace Miller Elementary Parent-Teacher Association to co-host News & Brews, offering a little free coffee and community connection during school drop-off. It felt good to make time to simply be together. More News & Brews events coming to an elementary school near you soon!

The more people I meet who call La Verne home, the more connected, energized and hopeful I feel about our community’s future. Thank you for asking questions, sharing your experiences and stopping to say hello. You help shape this newsroom—and remind me why I’m building it.
